These weekend woodturning courses are taught by Iain Stirling and Fi Gilfillan, the School’s Woodturning specialist. The fun and informative weekends are some of the School's most accessible courses, giving students a first point of entry into woodworking, with a focus on woodturning and round joinery. It is also designed to be scalable, so that students can then apply their skills to a variety of other projects. During the weekend, students will make a stool or plant stand with a wooden turned top and three legs. Students will learn how to work a lathe whilst being introduced to a wide range of different tools and techniques. They will also learn how to make tenons, tapered legs, sand and finish on the lathe.
